policing bill

Email your MP to oppose the dangerous Policing Bill.

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill will shut down protests, criminalise Gypsy and Traveller communities’ way of life, and expand the use of discriminatory stop and search.

Protest isn’t a gift from the State – it’s our fundamental right. But the Policing Bill gives police more powers to decide which protests can go ahead, where and for how long. And causing “serious annoyance” will be punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The Bill threatens the rights of anyone who has a cause they believe in and want to stand up for – from climate activists to racial justice campaigners to grieving families looking for answers and justice.

The Policing Bill also targets Gypsy and Traveller people who will face the prospect of fines, imprisonment, homelessness, and their child being put in care if they ‘reside on land without consent’ – an attack on the nomadic way of life.

And it will create new stop and search powers that will make discriminatory policing of people of colour even worse.

Email your MP today and tell them to oppose these dangerous and discriminatory powers.
