SUBMIT AN EMERGENCY MOTION
TO LIBERTY'S AGM


Use this form to submit an emergency motion to Liberty's 2024 AGM.

Liberty's AGM on 11 May 2024 will consider motions to amend Liberty policy or constitution. Liberty members and affiliated organisations may submit emergency motion proposals through this form, subject to the conditions outlined on this page.

Please read all the information below carefully before submitting a motion.

1. Motions must be submitted before 5pm on Tuesday 13 February 2024. The exception to this is emergency motions, which may be submitted until 11am on Wednesday 8 May.

2. Emergency motions must relate to some matter on which it would not have been possible to have submitted a motion by the deadline for motions at 5pm on 13 February 2024. This should be explained alongside your motion.

3. Any motion proposed by a Liberty member must also be seconded by another Liberty member. Details of proposers and seconders must be submitted through this form.

4. Any motion proposed by an affiliated organisation does not require a seconder.

5. Any member or affiliated organisation may propose or second no more than four motions in total.

6. Motions may either make a statement of policy or amend Liberty's constitution. Motions may not make operational decisions. Motions must be clear and specific about what they would do.

7. Read Liberty's constitution.

8. Decisions as to the validity of a motion are made by the Executive Committee. Proposers of motions may appeal a decision by appeal to the Conference and Appeals Committee.
